2023年2月下旬、休日を利用して直島へ旅してきました。久しぶりの旅行！２日目、その１。この日は多忙なスケジュールです。午前中は直島の家プロジェクトを鑑賞して、午後は豊島へ移動。
In late February 2023, I traveled to Naoshima for a holiday. First trip in a long time! Day2. Episode 1. It is a busy schedule for this day. In the morning, we will view the house project on Naoshima. In the afternoon, we will move to Teshima.

宿泊したベネッセハウス（パーク）から専用バスで直島港まで移動してきました。ホテルはかなり高額かなと思っていたのですが、こうしたバスなどのサービスが便利だったのが良いポイントでした。
We took a private bus from Benesse House (Park), where we stayed, to Naoshima Port. The hotel was quite expensive, but a good point was the convenience of the bus and other services.
バス停を降りてすぐにあったお店、Cafe Restaurant Garden。この日はお休みのようでした。（翌日は営業してました）
Cafe Restaurant Garden was located right after the bus stop. (It was open the next day.)
直島港ターミナル

複数の球体が組み合わさった中は、自転車置き場と船を待つ人のための待合所になっていました。骨組みが木造だったのが驚き。
Inside the multiple spheres assembled together was a bicycle storage area and a waiting area for people waiting for the boat. It was surprising that the framework was made of wood.
隣にはレンタサイクルのお店がありました。
Next door was a bicycle rental store.
本村ラウンジ＆アーカイブの脇を抜けて、最初に訪れたい「南寺」へと向かいます。時間がなかったので立ち寄りませんでしたが、このインフォメーションセンターは建築家 西沢立衛氏による空間デザインだそうです。家プロジェクトの鑑賞チケット、書籍やグッズ販売があるそうです。
Passing by the Honmura Lounge & Archive, we headed for the "Minamidera" which we wanted to visit first. We did not stop by because we did not have time, but this information center is said to be a space designed by architect Ryue Nishizawa. They have tickets to see the house project, books and goods for sale.
南寺へと向かう / Heading to the MINAMIDERA
初めて直島の町中を散歩しました。たまたまなのかも知れませんが、お寺が多いエリアでした。
For the first time, I took a walk around the town of Naoshima. It was an area with many temples.
直島港ターミナルから徒歩7-8分で、目指す南寺が見えてきました。家プロジェクトの一部はかなり近いエリアに散らばっているようです。
A 7-8 minute walk from the Naoshima Port Terminal, we saw the Minamiji temple we were aiming for. Some of the house projects seem to be scattered in a fairly close area.
「南寺」は、ジェームズ・タレルの作品のサイズにあわせ、安藤忠雄が設計を担当した新築の建物です。元来この近辺には5つの社寺と城址が集まっており、直島の歴史的、文化的な中心地になっています。「南寺」は、かつてここに実在していたお寺が人々の精神的な拠り所であったという記憶をとどめようとしています。（公式サイトより）
The "Nan-ji Temple" is a newly constructed building designed by Tadao Ando to match the size of James Turrell's work. Originally, five temples, shrines, and castle ruins were clustered in this neighborhood, making it the historical and cultural center of Naoshima. The "Nan-ji Temple" seeks to preserve the memory of the temple that once existed here as a spiritual center for the people of Naoshima.
隈研吾氏による根津美術館の雰囲気にも近い、シンプルな中に厳かさが感じられるエントランス。
The entrance is simple yet solemn, similar to the atmosphere of the Nezu Museum by Kengo Kuma.
南寺で直接、入館チケットを買うことはできないので、お気をつけを。
Please note that you cannot buy admission tickets directly at the South Temple.

隣の敷地を隔てる塀の段違いから、ここが傾斜地であることがわかります。
The difference in the level of the fence separating the neighboring properties indicates that this is a sloping site.
入り口のスタッフにチケット（パンフレットのような形）を見せると、ハンコを押してくれます。スタンプラリーみたい。
Show your ticket (in the form of a pamphlet) to the staff at the entrance and they will stamp it. It is like a stamp rally.
・館内は撮影や録音は禁止
・作品の鑑賞形態的に、小さな子供は難しいかも（とても静かに鑑賞する必要あり）
・「不思議」という感想に尽きる
・鑑賞後はスタッフの誘導により、「え？！これさわっていいんですか？」という時間がある
Photography and sound recording are prohibited inside the museum.
The way in which the works are viewed may make it difficult for small children to appreciate them (they need to be very quiet).
I was left with the impression that it was "strange".
After the viewing, there is a little surprise by the guidance of the staff.
鑑賞時間自体は10分ほどだったでしょうか。あっという間だったような、もっと長い時間が過ぎたような。ジェームズ・タレル氏の作品は地中美術館でも素晴らしい作品がありましたが、こちらも非常に魅力的な作品でした。
The viewing time itself was about 10 minutes. It seemed like it went by so fast, or maybe even longer. James Turrell's work was very fascinating, as was the wonderful work at the Chichu Art Museum.
重厚なコンクリートではない安藤忠雄建築、という点でも味わい深い。このリンクの記事が面白かったです。↓
It is also tasteful in that it is a Tadao Ando architecture that is not heavy concrete.I found this linked article interesting.
南寺の向かいにあったゲストハウス。
The guesthouse was located across the street from the South Temple.
朝イチから濃厚な作品鑑賞ができて、すでに大満足です。次は安藤忠雄ミュージアムへ向かいます。つづく。
I am already very satisfied with the richness of the artworks I was able to view from the first morning. Next, we will head to the Tadao Ando Museum. To be continued.
